CHOOSE OR LOSE: THE FLING AND GOLDEN ANIMALS OR JOSE GONZALEZ AND RICHARD SWIFT
Two great shows tonight:

First, it’s this week’s featured band The Fling, with Golden Animals at the Prospector. When asked about how they became involved in music, band member Dustin Lovelis (works at the Pike! Stop by for a pint and say hi!) replied, “We just grew up around it. Our dad had some really amazing records when we were young. His ’60s childhood definitely rubbed off on us.” That could also have something to do with their sound, which is kind like floating in a pool of pop on a raft made from Supergrass and strung together with Big Star guitars. And my old friend Doug Wallen describes Golden Animals as “sun-dappled” with “Creedence’s swampy riffing.” Should be a great show.
Coincidentally, when asked who they would most like to tour with, The Fling answered thusly:
Dustin: Fleet Foxes are pretty amazing live. I’d like to see them every night.
Graham: Grizzly Bear or Richard Swift.
Justin: The Raconteurs.
As it so happens, the great Richard Swift opens for foxy Swede Jose Gonzalez at OCPAC tonight. I’ll be there (and at Alex’s next month to catch The Fling with Soft Hands!) Check back soon for a review!
