CHECK OUT FM BATS TONIGHT

A little bit of a long time since FM Bats flapped out for a show, but tonight at Que Sera this storied Long Beach foursome unfolds once more—Todd vocals, Leonard bass, sweet sweet Toney on drums and Orlando playing guitar in that style described by Nick Kent (in a Roky Erickson review) as 10,000 Fender Jaguars descending on a Volkswagen bug, and if I’m stomping a necessary detail there, I hope the essential menace still comes through. (Click that link back there; it’s the original Doug Sahm production of a Roky Klassic.) You may remember ancestor bands from any and all of these guys but Bats put out severely weird and sincere maladjustment that trumps all previous raw rock efforts if listened to under correct conditions. Also on bill: Les Hormones (kill-or-be-killed V/A Scum Of The Earth grawge from SF, also appearing at Boss Hoss event at Mr. T’s Bowl) and Terremoto.
