LIES MY DOCTOR TOLD ME

We use only 10 percent of our brains.

You should drink eight glasses of water a day.

Shaving hair causes it to grow back faster and darker.

We’ve all heard and said these. I myself used the last one on my 14-year-old son the other days when he asked me if he could shave the wisps of hair under his nose.

Well, it turns out that these, and a bunch of other quasi-medical “facts”–hair and fingernails grow after death–are unfounded and/or completely bogus. Check out this enlightening article from BMJ.comĀ

Steve, speaking as a former 14 year old girl, you must--MUST--permit your son to shave the dark peach fuzz. In junior high we all thought it was icky, and wished that the boys would figure out that facial hair doesn't have to be course to require eradication.
