FOX BOLLOCKS AS MITT SPLIT

Fox News backs loser, fumbling for response

While most other networks in prime time are working out the reasons for Mitt Romney’s sudden exit from the GOP race, Fox News is still discussing the far more important stories–disappearance of Natalee Holloway, the abduction of a boy in Austin, TX, and (naturally) Britney Spears. Greta Van S spent three full minutes in the hour beginning 7 p.m. talking with Shushannah Walshe, whom she described as an “embed” in the Romney campaign. No discussion of Romney’s departure, its impact on the GOP, its meaning for the American conservative or neo-con movements–just “amazing” the experience was of watching that fabulous campaign from the inside.

“Embed,” of course, is the term used for journalists vetted by the Pentagon to cover the Iraq invasion and occupation. It says something that that’s how Fox sees its reporters’ role in the campaign.

There is no television viewing experience more frustrating than regular FOX News coverage, and none more gratifying than watching them try to figure out how to walk back their mistakes.
