ELECTION 2008 IN PHOTOS

Thanks to DW contributor Chesney Higgins for pointing us to this gallery by NPR.

Closer to home, and on a slightly sadder note, Daniel de Boom sent us some photos he snapped at the No on 8 rally over the weekend. I had planned a write up on it—Sunday’s highlights at Bixby Park included Bob Foster saying “I don’t understand how in these times people can organize hate” and asking voters to “Get out and defeat this nasty thing”; Bonnie Lowenthal trumpeting the city council’s unanimous “vote for equality”; Daniel Brezenoff’s positively thunderous speech; Suja Lowenthal boasting “The way Long Beach goes, so should the state of California”; and Tonia Reyes Uranga’s humorous conclusion, asking Latino voters to call friends and family and ask, “‘Remember that money you owe me? Forget it. Just vote no.’ “—but became occupied putting out the paper, and then, voting myself. For a moment, though, it truly seemed we would win.
