CAPITAL CITY
L.A. had its day. N.Y., Seattle, San Francisco, too. Now America’s metaphorical capital has flown east and landed in the lap of Chicago.
Every nightly news broadcast is stuffed with stock footage of the lakefront skyline. The White Sox talk gleefully about a presidential first pitch. Tokyo dreads the rise of the Windy City’s 2016 Olympic stock. And today, the President-Elect’s transition team announced that major cabinet announcements will be made from Chicago, not D.C.
Meanwhile, there’s also the ever-present rumor that our own Bob Foster might be lured away from America’s Aquatic Capital to that new national seat.
