Even if the perp never touched the shotgun, if the perp trespassed and entered and then threatened the life of the resident, self defense is acceptable by law. Perhaps the resident, if he's the owner, should get a ticket for owning a sawed-off shotgun (are these illegal if registered?), but beyond that, the resident did nothing wrong. The perp made a burglary attempt and chose the wrong victim. He'd still be alive if he hadn't committed this crime in the first place.

I've actually heard that the justifiably deceased perp just might have stolen the sawed-off shotgun from the burglary victim. Coverup?

I was not aware that the recovery time after being tased is SECONDS, not minutes as seen on my "Taser" channel (ThePrimeSpot.TV ).

Please keep in mind when you view the clips of the preacher and movie stars getting tased for the camera, their recovery and reaction is relaxed compared to a real-life crime scene, etc.

I'm interested to know Long Beach's Tasing Guidelines and am blogging about it on www.myspace.com/club562

Am I the only one who is wondering why the deceased suspect saw fit to bring a "sawed-off" shotgun to what is being described as a residential burglary? That would normally indicate an intended crime far more sinister than a res-burg.

It does concern me that the use of a Taser by LBPD officers has generally been omited from most stories about this incident. I totaly support the use of Tasers by law enforcement personnel but this omission gnaws at me. What gives?

On the bright side, as a LBPD Commander (now retired) used to tell me: "The trial was not lengthy".

And this is a problem why? Seems he may have saved the taxpayers a few dollars and possibly spared future victims of crime...
