Gerrie Schipske, Long Beach’s bloggin’ councilwoman, presents her predictions for 2008, and most of them sound pretty probable — even that part about Bill Pearl of LBreport.com getting to most of the best local stories first … although watch out for the resourceful Theo Douglas. I’m warning you.

    Lessee, can Gerrie Schipske predict the future?
    Wait, I know this one! I know: Concentrate and ask again!
    Well, actually, that's not fair; we'll have to wait 'til 2009 before I make any more Magic 8-Ball-esque pronouncements about the Fifth District councilwoman.
    This year, I'll be keeping one eye on her list--and one eye on Bill Pearl.
    (If you can't wait another year before we kick this one around again, visit your local thrift stores for 8-Balls and their assorted brethren--including the recent pirate-themed ball, the Aye Ball; and the Sponge Bob-themed device, the so-called Sponge Bob AnswerPants. Every home should have one.)

    Gerrie Shipske's predictions are about as gloomy as the current state of Long Beach and California. I guess she is an appropriate politician for the times.
