ACRES OF BOOKS ANNOUNCES ITS LAST DAY

Yep, it’s true.

Acres of Books–Long Beach’s longtime world-famous used bookstore, now holding its going-out-of-business sale–has named its last day on earth.

And that day is Oct. 18, making these next six weeks its last.

The official announcement is here.

It’s very sad news–despite the fact that we’ve all known this was coming for quite some time.

What's sad about it? The loss of a legendary local business with history and character, to be replaced by a giant maze-like box full of code variances, inadequate parking, zero setbacks, no architectural significance or connection to the adjacent buildings and unoccupied retail. And $2.8 MILLION of your money. Do we know what they paid the other businesses there were here?

I'm getting tired of trying to cheerlead for Long Beach when it's a worse city than when I moved here 12 years ago.

    Condos and Quizono's

RDA. Your track record is remarkable. The Nu-Pike is excellent and makes a shitload OF MONEY.

Before wiping out a business that has supported Long Beach for SEVENTY FIVE years can't we focus on something else here, Craig Beck? You fucking idiot. I hope you turn in your sleep every night and keep thinking that you have DONE GOOD. Because you are robbing us of what we are. You are the evil. You are the monster in Beowolf. The monster that destroys itself. Thanks for your bullshit.

Craig Beck + Suja Lowenthal = BULLSHIT

    FUCK YOU!
