Jan-Michael Vincent, Gary Busey and William Katt star in John Milius’ 1978 surfin’ drama about three friends who keep riding the waves even as the turbulence of the ‘60s threatens to engulf them. Nowadays Vincent and Busey are best known for crashing into things and making everybody around them uncomfortable, while Katt mostly keeps to himself and is a little too happy to discuss The Greatest American Hero with anybody who asks him about it.
