A store clerk stepped into action when he spotted three youths trying to walk off with a pack of beer. The clerk stepped in front of the would-be robbers until they shoved him away and dashed outside, dropping the beer in the process. Not content to rest on his vigilance, the clerk reported the license plate of their getaway car and proceeded to clean up the spilled beer. After a short while, however, the youths returned and attacked the clerk—only to be nabbed by the police an hour later, unhappily sober and in handcuffs.

Acting on what they could only assume to be a routine break-in, police arrived at a pharmacy to find that a thief had plowed a stolen car in through the front doors. The thief reportedly left the car parked among the broken displays and rubble while he swiped an undisclosed amount of prescription pills—a fact that reminded officers of a similar incident that occurred the night before in Anaheim.
