More than friends with benefits, but with less benefits

The San Francisco Chronicle has an interesting story examining whether civil unions for gay couples are really the equivalent of marriage in terms of the benefits they provide. So, does the awkwardly-named compromise do everything for a happy couple that the more traditional form of interpersonal contract ratification featuring “I do” does? It don’t.
