IRAN NOT PURSUING NUCLEAR WEAPONS

Hey, that thing called “diplomacy” actually works!

Choosing his words with customary care, Bush recently mentioned Iran and WW III in the same sentence. Neocons have decided that a third front (Iran) will ensure victory on the first two (Afghanistan and Iraq), and have appalled the world by recommending immediate bombing of Iranian nuclear sites. Suspected nuclear sites, that is.

Today we learn that US intelligence agencies have concluded that Iran put an end to its atomic weapons program in 2003, and the whole thing has been mothballed ever since. International pressure and tough sanctions are thought to have played a major role in the continued suspension of the program. So we’ll probably miss out on a third war, but we did get to enjoy being whipped up into a paranoid frenzy for a while.

    From IranAffairs.com:

Iran NIE report - Are you lying now, or were you lying then?

If the 2005 NIE report was wrong, why should the 2007 NIE claims be any more credible? If Iran really had a nuclear weapons program until 2003 as the new NIE says, then why has the IAEA found no evidence of it?</
