HEAD COUNT
Another phony number from the Pentagon
Even for the bizarre world of Pentagon accounting, this is appalling: “At least 20,000 U.S. troops who were not classified as wounded during combat in Iraq and Afghanistan have been found with signs of brain injuries,” according to USA Today.
We all know the Pentagon’s numbers have a strained relationship with reality when it comes to cutting checks to defense contractors, but you’d think it could do better than accounting for just one in five among brain-injured troops. Or at least come up with a more plausible number for public consumption.
