FREEDOM IS ON THE MARCH
Today’s Reality Check
This weekend, General Patreaus announced that Al-Qaeda in Iraq has been disrupted to such an extent that it “no longer operates in large numbers in any neighborhood of the capital.” Which is wonderful news.
…And totally meaningless, if you live in Diyala. Today someone rode a bicycle–almost certainly manufactured in Iran!–into a crowd of Iraqi police recruits, killing at least 32 during morning roll call. Twenty decapitated bodies were found near another Diyala police station early this morning. And in the al-Ehaimer area of Diyala a mass grave–containing fifteen female students–was also discovered.
That’s one province, one morning.
