H.W. looks to the future

George H.W. Bush, former president and possessor of the loins that sired the current president, appeared on Fox News today. The good folks at Think Progress watched it, and report that old Bush warns hopes that a new generation of Bushes may be going into politics.

Bush also said that he would like to see another generation of Bushes in public office. “I’ve got a grandson that would make a wonderfully able public servant if he ran, George P.,” said Bush. “And Pierce, Neil’s son. They have an interest in politics.”

Well, George P. certainly has shown a flair for persuading people to follow his lead. In 1994, George P. was arrested for breaking into a former girlfriend’s home at 4 o’clock in the morning, and then vandalizing the house’s lawn. But he was able to persuade his ex and her family not to press charges. A born leader, obviously.

As for Pierce, if he can follow his father Neil’s path in life, he’ll go far and get rich trading off his family’s name and connections. Hopefully, he’ll learn from his father’s example, and avoid Thai hookers with herpes.

So if they can avoid the scabby sores, and keep getting people to drop the charges, we may get a new generation of Bush leadership every bit as special as the current one.
