ANOTHER JOB WELL DONE
Texans and diplomacy
Karen Hughes, former counselor to the president and the croniest of President Bush’s Texas cronies, has announced she’s leaving her current job as Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs. Her task at the State Dept. was improving America’s image in the Muslim world.
So, how’d that work out?
The AP notes the “favorable opinion of the United States in Muslim Indonesia, for instance, [dropped] from 75 percent in 2000 to 30 percent last year.”
Sounds like it’s time to get President Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” banner out of storage.
